    Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao launched the Rythu Beema scheme five years ago. The scheme provides financial assistance to the families of farmers who have tragically lost their lives. So far, a total of Rs 5,402 crore has been given to these families.

    The Finance Minister T Harish Rao shared this information on Twitter. He highlighted that the Rythu Beema Scheme demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting farmers during challenging times. Through this scheme, the Telangana government covers the premium payments to LIC on behalf of eligible farmers. In case of their unfortunate demise, their families receive Rs 5 lakhs. This initiative shows respect for farmers and the government’s resolve to stand by them.

    The scheme has received overwhelming response since its launch. In the first year, 31.25 lakh farmers registered for the scheme. By 2023-24, this number had grown to 41.04 lakh farmers. The financial aspect of the scheme has also evolved, with the premium payment increasing from Rs 602 crores to Rs 1,477 crores.

    Harish Rao expressed gratitude to Chief Minister KCR for conceiving this remarkable scheme. He emphasized that the Rythu Beema Scheme is not just an insurance program, but a lifeline for farmers and their families. It showcases Telangana’s dedication to their well-being and prosperity.
