In Gadwal, a critical issue has emerged involving the distribution of cotton seeds. The All India Ambedkar Youth Association recently uncovered a significant scam impacting farmers in the Nadigadda area. Macherla Prakash, the district president, accused seed organizers and companies of cheating farmers through false claims and price manipulation.
“This is more than business; it’s a calculated attempt to ruin our farmers,” Prakash stated. He explained that organizers are labeling good seeds as failures to dodge accountability and save money. Farmers, already struggling with debt and drought, now face this new exploitation by these companies.
Key accusations include:
– Organizers falsely claiming viable seeds as failures.
– Exorbitant seed prices with no fair return or support for farmers.
– Skipping necessary re-sampling of failed seeds, leaving farmers without evidence or compensation.
– Middlemen controlling distribution instead of agricultural officers, resulting in no transparency.
Prakash called for immediate government intervention, warning that if justice isn’t served, the association will take legal action.
The protest is gaining momentum as NHPS District Chairman Gongalla Ranjith Kumar announced a collective protest. “We cannot allow these frauds to continue. On May 31st, we will march to the District Collector’s Office with affected farmers to demand justice,” he said.
The core issue is the broken trust of farmers. “Farmers plant dreams with each seed, but tampering leads to family collapse, not just crop failure,” Prakash emphasized.
The association demands:
– Seed distribution via Agricultural Extension Officers.
– Transparent price increases benefiting farmers.
– Supervised re-sampling of failed seeds to prevent scams.
– Criminal charges against guilty organizers and companies.
Support is growing as local leaders like Balgara Pratap, Putta Prasad, Bhimesh, Chandra, and Gabriel pledge to support farmers. They declare, “We won’t let another season be wasted. Farmers deserve justice and dignity.”
As the state watches, farmers in Nadigadda are no longer silent. They are prepared to stand up and fight for their rights.
