Economic crimes have surged across Telangana in 2023, but Hyderabad saw a decrease. According to the NCRB report 2023, Hyderabad reported 5,728 economic offence cases, a drop from 6,015 in 2022 and 4,860 in 2021.
Statewide, Telangana recorded 26,881 economic crime cases in 2023, compared to 26,321 in the previous year and 20,759 in 2021. Among these, 5,593 cases involved forgery, cheating, and fraud, with 130 cases linked to criminal breach of trust.
Corruption-related offences have declined to 87 cases in 2023, down from 107 in 2022 and slightly increasing from 83 in 2021.
