Cyber crime cases rise in 2023

Cyber crimes have surged in Telangana over the past three years. According to the NCRB report of 2023, there were 18,236 cyber crime cases registered in 2023, compared to 15,297 in 2022. In 2021, the number stood at 10,303. These cases included computer-related offenses, identity theft, and the distribution of sexually explicit material online.

In Hyderabad, the rise in cyber crimes is evident. In 2023, authorities recorded 4,855 cases, up from 4,436 in 2022. The figure was 3,303 cases in 2021. Meanwhile, offenses against the state decreased, with 92 cases in 2023, down from 99 in 2022 and 125 in 2021.
