Hyderabad: The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB)-2023 report, published by the Union Home Ministry on Tuesday, shows a rise in crimes against women in the state. In 2023, authorities recorded 23,678 cases involving crimes against women, up from 22,066 in 2022 and 20,865 in 2021. Telangana also saw an increase in cases filed under the IPC section, with 1,56,737 cases in 2023 compared to 1,51,849 in 2022, and 14,131 in 2021.
In Hyderabad, the number of IPC cases also rose. There were 21,774 cases in 2023, up from 20,668 in 2022 and 17,951 in 2021. The report highlights a slight increase in crimes against children in Telangana. In 2023, 6,113 cases were registered, compared to 5,657 in 2022 and 5,667 in 2021.
Crimes against children in Hyderabad also rose slightly. The city recorded 692 cases in 2023, up from 645 in 2022 and 621 in 2021.
Juvenile crime saw an uptick in 2023 as well. There were 1,151 cases reported in 2023, an increase from 1,096 in 2022, while there were 1,152 cases in 2021.
