Dr Matta Ragamayee, a 55-year-old doctor, recently won as the MLA of Sathupalli, proving that women can achieve anything. She comes from a political family and had resigned from her government doctor post to set up a clinic in Sathupalli, where she provides service to the people. Her husband, Dr Matta Dayanand, is a politician who has been serving the community for many years.
Dr Ragamayee’s mother, Matta Arogyam, also served as an MPP of Sathupalli. Initially, Dr Ragamayee conducted health camps and provided health services to the people, supporting her husband in his political endeavors. Her husband had previously contested from YSRCP in 2014 but lost by a narrow margin and later joined Congress.
On a Congress ticket, Dr Matta Ragamayee entered politics and won in her first attempt, defeating a senior political leader, four-time MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah. Despite her new role as a people’s representative, she continues to provide health services to the community on a daily basis.
