Hyderabad is taking action to reduce traffic jams on roads connecting Mehdipatnam, Gachibowli, and nearby areas. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) plans to build new multi-level flyovers and grade separators at Rethibowli and Nanalnagar junctions. This is part of the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) project.
The government has allocated Rs 398 crore for this initiative. AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi and Karwan MLA Kausar Mohiuddin played key roles in pushing this project forward.
The flyover will have two levels to improve traffic flow. One level will cater to the Mehdipatnam–Tolichowki route, while the other will serve the Langar Houz–Mehdipatnam stretch. MLA Kausar Mohiuddin mentioned that this development would make daily commuting easier for thousands of people. AIMIM Floor Leader and MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi highlighted this issue in the Telangana Legislative Assembly, ensuring it received government focus.
Out of the total cost, Rs 220 crore is designated for building the flyovers and separators. The rest will cover land purchases, moving utilities, consultant fees, and other related tasks. The project will be carried out on an engineering, procurement, and construction basis. A Request for Proposal (RFP) has been issued under National Competitive Bidding.
Bids must be submitted by September 22, 2025, and the project contract will be awarded on September 24, 2025.
