    Hyderabad: The Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), K Ilambarithi, has instructed officials to speed up the completion of stormwater drain and Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP) projects at Durgam Cheruvu.

    On Tuesday, Commissioner Ilambarithi visited the Durgam Cheruvu area along with senior GHMC officials. During the visit, they examined issues related to pond management, floodwater, and sewage systems. Residents and visitors in the area also shared their feedback on these concerns.

    After assessing the current floodwater and sewage conditions, the SWD consultant and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) recommended the construction of new sewage lines. The Additional Commissioner of Lakes was asked to take the necessary steps to begin this work.

    The Chief Engineer was instructed to move forward with the SNDP projects while ensuring safety measures around high-tension cable lines. Additionally, the Serilingampally Zone Commissioner was given responsibility for overseeing the project’s completion in coordination with the traffic and other related departments.

    Several officials were present during the inspection, including Lakes Additional Commissioner Sivakumar Naidu, Serilingampally Zonal Commissioner Upender Reddy, the SNDP Chief Engineer, the Lakes Executive Engineer, and the Water Board Deputy General Manager.
