Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan has urged city officials to quickly act on the complaints raised during the latest Prajavani public hearing. He reviewed the concerns submitted by residents and asked each department to resolve issues without delay.
During the public meeting held at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) headquarters, officials received a total of 183 complaints. These included problems related to town planning, street lighting, and other civic matters.
Out of the 183, 66 complaints came directly to the GHMC headquarters. Here’s how they broke down:
– 33 cases were linked to the Town Planning Department
– 6 came from the Engineering section
– 5 involved the Tax Department
– 2 each were related to Electricity, Land Acquisition, Finance, Administration, Sanitation, Housing, and Vigilance
– 1 each was reported from Health, Estate, Lakes, and UBD Departments
In addition, the Prajavani phone-in programme received 4 calls, all of which were forwarded to the relevant departments for action.
Outside the headquarters, GHMC collected 113 more complaints from its six city zones:
– Kukatpally Zone: 40 complaints
– Serilingampally Zone: 14
– LB Nagar Zone: 9
– Secunderabad Zone: 17
– Charminar Zone: 3
– Khairatabad Zone: 30
Commissioner RV Karnan stressed the importance of officials being responsive and responsible. He said that all financial-related complaints should be handled by local offices, and every person who submits a request must get a written reply—no matter what the final decision is.
He emphasized that both individual and community problems deserve serious attention from the administration.
