The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is targeting areas with high mosquito problems to reduce the spread of diseases. They are using drones to spray chemicals in lakes and releasing ‘oil balls’ to control mosquito breeding. Awareness programs are being conducted in schools, colleges, and door-to-door in 4,846 colonies. There is a special focus on areas near water bodies and nalas.

The GHMC is taking measures to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases in Greater Hyderabad. There has been an increase in mosquito problems in the city, especially near water bodies and open nalas. The increase is due to water stagnation, sewage overflow, and the smell coming from the water bodies.

To prevent diseases caused by mosquitoes, field-level officers are educating citizens about preventive measures. The entomology and sanitation departments are working together to prevent the spread of dengue, malaria, and chickenpox. GHMC Commissioner Amrapali Kata directed officers to take preventive measures, especially in slums.
