Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is ready to tackle any severe weather, according to Commissioner RV Karnan. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy rains.
On Wednesday, Karnan visited the GHMC headquarters to check the control room. He reviewed the complaints received and examined how the control room operates. Karnan instructed staff to stay alert at all times.
He announced that GHMC employees’ holidays are canceled. Senior officials must stay at the headquarters.
Zonal and deputy commissioners are visiting various parts of the city. They are checking the situation and dealing with issues. “People from areas prone to flooding are being moved to safer places and rehabilitation centers,” Karnan stated.
Deputy Commissioners and local leaders are managing relief efforts. GHMC is quickly responding to public complaints through apps, the control room, and other means. Safety measures are in place at drains, and the public is advised to avoid low-lying areas.
Karnan stressed cooperation with the Police, HYDRAA, Electricity, Water Board, Metro Rail, Irrigation, and Revenue departments. This coordination aims to prevent harm to people and property. He instructed that manholes should remain closed, and any problems must be reported to GHMC. Residents are advised to stay indoors unless necessary.
