Hyderabad is making efforts to keep the city clean for five days starting Thursday. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is leading this initiative to stop seasonal diseases during the monsoon. Commissioner RV Karnan has directed sanitation teams to work continuously.

On Wednesday, Karnan and other officials, including Zonal Commissioner Bhorkhade Hemant Sahadeva Rao and Health & Sanitation Additional Commissioner CN Raghu Prasad, inspected areas like Borabanda, Sunnam Cheruvu, SPR Hills, and others in the Yousufguda circle of the Serilingampally zone. They spent two hours checking the cleanliness of these places.

Karnan stressed the need for a clean environment to prevent diseases like malaria and dengue, which are common during this time. He mentioned that the Meteorological Department predicts less rain soon, offering a chance to remove garbage and other waste from the city.

He also noted they will focus on areas missed in previous drives and tackle waste at known garbage spots to protect public health. Karnan called for community support to make Hyderabad a “Clean City” by considering local representatives’ feedback.

Sanitation teams are instructed to continue efforts to curb seasonal illnesses with the reduced rainfall. Zonal and circle officers, along with senior officials, are encouraged to ensure the success of these specialized programs during the monsoon.
