Hyderabad: The state government will give Rs 5 lakh to each family who lost a loved one due to electrocution during a rally for Krishna Janmashtami at Ramanthapur on Sunday night. Six people died, and twelve others were hurt.
State IT and Industries Minister, D Sridhar Babu, visited Gandhi Hospital to check on the injured. He confirmed that the government would not only provide Rs 5 lakh to the families of those who died but also cover all medical expenses for the injured.
Sridhar Babu described the accident as “extremely tragic and unfortunate.” He explained that the incident took place just as the ‘Shobha Yatra’ was ending. Early investigations indicated that the cables were live with electricity at the time of the accident. The district Collector has been tasked with conducting a detailed investigation. The minister promised strict action against anyone found responsible.
In anticipation of heavy rains and the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, a special initiative has been launched to address the dangers of hanging cables and electric wires in the Greater Hyderabad area.
