Hyderabad: Telangana‘s IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu emphasized the state’s strong commitment to empowering women. He highlighted that this commitment is shown not just in words but through concrete actions.
The Minister spoke during the launch of the ‘SITHA’ (She Is The Hero Always) app by SheJobs on Monday. He described this app as part of a larger movement aimed at providing women across Telangana with equal opportunities, financial independence, and leadership positions, regardless of their background.
“Real empowerment,” the Minister said, “happens when women can make their own choices at home and participate in decision-making.” Citing the recent ‘Men and Women in India – 2024’ report from the Central Statistical Office (CSO), he noted that 86% of rural and 89% of urban women in Telangana are involved in household decisions. He stated, “These numbers reflect Telangana’s quiet progress toward gender equality. They show steps toward creating a fair and inclusive society.”
He stressed that women are vital to Telangana’s community, and the government is determined to provide equal access to education, jobs, and leadership. The government is opening Mahila Shakti Canteens at government sites and tourist spots and has given out Rs 21,000 crore in zero-interest loans in just the first year of this plan. Additionally, Telangana has partnered with oil companies to set up gas stations in all 31 districts, which will be managed by women’s groups to boost self-reliance and financial security.
