Bhupalpalli – District Collector Rahul Sharma has promised farmers that the government will buy their rain-damaged paddy. He urged them not to panic over the losses caused by the recent unseasonal rains.
On Thursday night, heavy rain hit the Erra Cheruvu area in Mahadevpur mandal, soaking large amounts of harvested paddy stored at a government procurement center. On Friday, the Collector visited the site along with Additional Collector Ashok Kumar and other top officials to assess the damage.
During the visit, the Collector ordered officials to quickly move the wet paddy to rice mills to stop it from sprouting. He also told them to bring in more workers immediately to speed up the transportation process.
Departments of Agriculture and Cooperation were asked to work together. They must record all farmer losses caused by the rains. These reports will be sent to the government so that affected farmers can receive proper compensation.
Key officials present during the inspection included Civil Supplies Officer Srinath, District Marketing Officer Ramulu, Cooperation Officer Valia Naik, Tehsildar Prahlad Rathod, and MPDO Venkateswara Rao.
The administration is taking fast steps to support farmers and protect their crops from further damage.
