Hyderabad is gearing up to promote its growing medical tourism sector during the upcoming Miss World 2024 competition, which starts on May 7 in the city.
The Telangana State Government is organizing a large-scale campaign to showcase the state’s healthcare strengths. Special events will highlight advanced medical services not only at the Miss World venue but also across other prominent locations in the state.
One of the key highlights will be a dedicated medical tourism event at AIG Hospitals in Hyderabad on May 16. This campaign will reach a global audience, as the Miss World competition will be broadcast live in over 150 countries.
Officials emphasized that medical costs in Telangana are significantly lower—between 60% to 80% less—than in the United States or Europe. Despite lower prices, the state offers world-class treatment backed by modern technology and skilled doctors.
Both government and private hospitals in Hyderabad are equipped with cutting-edge facilities such as robotic surgeries and telemedicine. They provide expert care in areas like cardiology, orthopedics, cancer treatment, organ transplants, cosmetic surgery, fertility treatments (IVF), and more.
Several hospitals have earned prestigious international accreditations such as JCI (Joint Commission International) and NABH, boosting confidence among international patients seeking high-quality care.
Realizing the growing global interest in traditional Indian healing, the government is also promoting alternative systems like Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Unani. During the event, medical teams will guide international visitors about the benefits of these age-old therapies.
According to official data, 75,171 foreign patients visited Hyderabad for medical treatment in 2014. That number has more than doubled to 1.55 lakh in 2024. In the same year, about 8.82 crore Indian patients sought treatment in Telangana.
Authorities believe the global spotlight from Miss World 2024 will help position Hyderabad as a top destination for affordable and advanced healthcare, further boosting its image on the international medical tourism map.
