The state government is taking steps to fix the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages in Hyderabad. They are acting on the PC Ghose Commission’s report on the Kaleshwaram project. This report advises following all NDSA recommendations to restore these structures and ensure water flow.
The irrigation department has called on well-known design agencies to help with these repairs. They will follow the NDSA’s final report for the work.
Top officials noted that Telangana Power Generation Corporation Limited (TSGENCO) has issued an online tender. They need vital thrust bearings for Stage-II Vertical Turbine (VT) pumps at the Kaleshwaram intake pump house, part of the Kakatiya Thermal Power Project (KTPP).
The Congress government aims to address past concerns about pump issues during the BRS regime. It plans to finish the repairs with high standards to prevent future problems.
TG Genco demands top-quality bearings, specifically SKF/NSK/TIMKEN brands. Any other brand will not be considered. The bearings should handle a static load of 3000 kN, operate at 1600 RPM, and resist temperatures up to 200°C. A performance guarantee is required for 18 months after use or 24 months after supply.
The government is keen on meeting deadlines and ensuring the pump house repairs are completed on schedule.
