Hyderabad: On Friday, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma celebrated Raksha Bandhan with a unique event at Raj Bhavan. The Samskruti Foundation organized a “Rakhi for Soldiers” program.
Students from various colleges in Hyderabad and Secunderabad attended. They tied Rakhis to officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force to show gratitude and support.
The Governor shared Raksha Bandhan greetings and spoke about its significance. He mentioned the Mahabharata story of Draupadi and Lord Krishna to emphasize mutual protection and responsibility. He noted that soldiers include everyone who selflessly serves the nation, like scientists and sanitation workers.
He urged the importance of ethical nation-building and unity, encouraging citizens to guard not just borders but also values like Dharma and truth.
In his message to Telangana’s people, Governor Varma expressed heartfelt wishes for Raksha Bandhan. He highlighted the festival’s representation of the sacred bond between brothers and sisters.
