Nagar Kurnool: As part of the ongoing Ganesh Navaratri celebrations, women devotees held special pujas on the fifth day in various colonies of Nagar Kurnool district. On Wednesday, the Gold Phase Ganesh Youth Group at Raghavendra Colony Road No. 2 organized a Maha Prasadam offering to Lord Ganesh. Devotees also sang bhajans at the Ganesh mandap (pavilion) near Bangaru Maisamma in Raghavendra Colony. After the prayers, Anna Prasadam (food) was distributed to the devotees.
In addition, various flour-based dishes were prepared and offered as naivedyam (food offerings) to Lord Ganesh, showcasing the devotion and cooking skills of the attendees. Special homams (rituals), such as the Ganapathi Lakshmi Homam and Navagraha Homam, were conducted by the Milestone Youth group. Silver poojas (rituals) were also performed, adding to the spiritual atmosphere.
At the Housing Board Colony, the Rebels Youth group organized cultural activities for children. The children performed episodes from the Mahabharata, which was especially appreciated by the community. Subhash Goud, one of the organizers, mentioned that two quintals of Anna Prasadam are being distributed every day, and this service will continue until Saturday.
In Vishwaradhya Colony, the Ganesh Syndicate, led by Dr. Gavvamatta Viswanath Shastri, carried out special pujas followed by the distribution of Anna Prasadam. Meanwhile, at the Bajrang Dal Vinayak Mandap, priest Gomatham Murali Mohanacharyulu conducted the poojas. Special prayers were also held at a Ganesh idol organized by the Shivashakti Youth in Raghavendra Colony, with Gavvamatta Vijayakumar Shastri leading the prayers.
Women especially participated with great enthusiasm, singing bhajans, performing kolatam (a traditional folk dance), and engaging in other cultural activities. These vibrant celebrations made the Ganesh Navaratri festival joyful across all the colonies.
