The leader of the BJP in the state, Gudur Narayana Reddy, has asked the government to cancel the toll collection rights given to a private company on the Outer Ring Road. He believes this will lead to a big loss for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). Reddy has criticized the government’s decision, calling it a scam and comparing it to killing a goose that lays golden eggs.
Reddy alleges that the government gave toll collection rights to a Mumbai-based company for an amount of Rs 7,380 crore for 30 years. However, he claims that this is less than half of what could be earned in 30 years, which is estimated to be about Rs 17,000 crore. He thinks that the bid of the private company was accepted because money had changed hands and that the ruling Bhrat Rashtra Samithi was behind it.
The entire process seems to be a big scam, according to Reddy. Therefore, he is calling on the government to cancel the toll collection rights given to the private company on ORR. This will prevent a significant loss for HMDA in the future.
