Hyderabad: Four Arrested for Possessing Ganja

The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), along with the Afzalgunj Police, arrested four people, including a woman, for possessing ganja. During the operation, the police seized 5 kg of ganja, an auto-rickshaw, Rs 3,400 in cash, and four mobile phones. The total value of the seized items is estimated to be around Rs 3 lakh.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Satla Ganganna (48) from Utnoor, Adilabad District, who was the supplier of the ganja, and three drug peddlers: Byagari Ravikanth alias Tumbo (24), Byagari Ananthaiah alias Anand (53), and his wife, Byagari Niraja alias Niraja (45), all residents of Rajendranagar in Ranga Reddy (RR) District.

According to the police, Ganganna, who was originally a farmer, started supplying ganja. He sourced the ganja from cultivators along the Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh border, near Assam. For the past two years, he had been supplying ganja to Ananthaiah’s family in Hyderabad.

The police revealed that Ananthaiah, his wife, and their sons were actively involved in selling ganja in various parts of Hyderabad. Over the last three months, they had been purchasing ganja from Ganganna at a lower price. Niraja was responsible for preparing small packets of ganja, while her sons sold them to customers in areas like Abids, Langer Houz, Attapur, Rajendranagar, and Sun City, making a profit by selling them at higher prices.

The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) has urged the public to avoid substance abuse and advised parents to keep an eye on their children’s activities to help prevent drug involvement. Anyone with information about drug abuse is encouraged to report it to the H-NEW team at mobile number 8712661601. The police emphasized the importance of working together to create a drug-free Hyderabad.
