Hyderabad: On Sunday, Maulana Hafiz Pir Shabbir Ahmed, the president of Jamiat Ulama Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, died during the Fajr prayers.
Maulana Shabbir Ahmed was a respected religious scholar and a former MLC of the undivided Andhra Pradesh. He worked hard to improve education, social, and economic conditions for the Muslim community.
His funeral, known as Namaz-e-Janaza, will take place after Asr prayers at Shaheen Markaz in Santosh Nagar.
His son, Pir Irshad Ahmed Nasir, is a prominent leader in the Youth Congress and serves as the National Convener for SC, ST, BC, and Minority Affairs in the All India Congress Committee. Another son, Pir Munir Jaber, is also involved with the Hyderabad Youth Congress.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) expressed sorrow over his death. They honored his contributions to Telangana’s growth and his efforts to promote communal harmony.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Maulana Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed Saheb,” said KT Rama Rai, the working president of the party. “He was a respected religious scholar and devoted leader who spent his life working for education, community welfare, and social service. His dedication to uplifting the community and protecting religious and national rights under Jamiat Ulama is truly commendable.”
The loss of Maulana Hafiz Pir Shabbir Ahmed is felt widely across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant loss to the state’s religious and social leadership.
