BRS leader Harish Rao Thanneeru has issued an open letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, demanding the immediate cancellation of a proposed land auction in Raidurg. The TGIIC (Telangana Government Industrial Infrastructure Corporation) has scheduled an auction for 10.63 acres in Survey No. 83/1, Raidurg, set to take place on August 17 and 21. Harish Rao has raised serious concerns about the legality and propriety of auctioning land that is currently under legal dispute.
The former minister highlighted that Survey No. 83 has been officially declared a Heritage Site. He pointed out that the land is subject to competing ownership claims involving State Bank of India (SBI) and Waqf rights, both of which are currently under legal scrutiny. According to Harish Rao, the Supreme Court has emphasized the importance of preventing the creation of third-party interests while such property disputes remain unresolved in the courts.
In his letter, Harish Rao drew attention to what he described as a contradiction in Revanth Reddy’s position on the matter. He noted that in 2020, when Revanth Reddy was in the opposition, he had approached the courts seeking protection for these very Raidurg lands. The BRS leader questioned how the same person, after becoming Chief Minister, could now permit an auction that would create third-party rights over disputed property, suggesting a different stance in opposition versus in power.
The BRS working president expressed broader concerns about the protection of public assets in Telangana. He referenced multiple instances where precious public lands are being put at risk, including environmental lands belonging to Hyderabad Central University (HCU) and heritage rock lands in Raidurg. Harish Rao emphasized that these lands represent valuable public assets that must be safeguarded for future generations.
Harish Rao called upon the government to establish lawful ownership and protect the heritage precinct before proceeding with any auction. He stressed that no auction should be permitted until the title and legal status of the land are conclusively determined through proper legal channels. The BRS leader urged the state government to follow due process and respect the ongoing legal proceedings regarding the disputed property.
The open letter, addressed to the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office, concluded with an urgent appeal to immediately stop the proposed auctions scheduled for mid-August. Harish Rao emphasized the need to protect these lands for future generations and ensure that heritage sites and disputed properties are not auctioned off while legal matters remain pending in courts.
