The Telangana High Court Advocates’ Association (THCAA) has announced a boycott of Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya’s bench, starting June 30. This decision was made at a recent THCAA meeting, where three resolutions were passed unanimously.
A Jagan, the association president, explained the reasons for this action. He accused Justice Bhattacharya of inappropriate behavior towards lawyers, including imposing heavy costs on them during cases.
The first resolution calls for the boycott of her court until action is taken. The second resolution requests Acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul not to assign any cases to Justice Bhattacharya. The third resolution involves writing to the President and Chief Justice of India to demand her immediate transfer.
Jagan claimed that Justice Bhattacharya directed the registry to appoint legal aid counsels without clients’ approval. The THCAA executive committee plans to meet with the Chief Justice of India and the Supreme Court Collegium to discuss the alleged harassment and misconduct.
