Hyderabad: On Friday, BRS leaders urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to lead an all-party team to New Delhi and ensure 42% reservations for BCs in local elections before proceeding with them.

During a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, opposition leader S Madhusudana Chari, alongside Ch Rakesh, Kishore Goud, and MP V Ravichandra, criticized Revanth Reddy for not keeping his promise about the BC reservations. Chari accused Reddy of failing to discuss the BC Bill with PM Modi, despite multiple visits to Delhi. He suggested Reddy’s visits were for personal gains and questioned his commitment to BCs. Ponnam Prabhakar’s comments on BC reservations were mentioned, with allegations that he’s being used by the CM. Chari claimed the Congress has historically neglected BCs, setting up commissions but ignoring their recommendations.

Chari further alleged that the Congress made misleading statements in the Kamareddy Declaration for BC votes. Despite promises, he said Congress allocated nothing to BCs in two budgets. The promise of Rs 20,000 crore annually and 42% reservation went unfulfilled, showing a lack of sincerity. He criticized the BJP as well, stating the central government has done little for BCs in eleven years, with no BC ministry and reduced budget allocations. Chari insisted that elections should only occur after ensuring 42% reservation for BCs.

MP V Ravi Chandra added that the Congress promised BCs many benefits for votes but failed to deliver after gaining power.
