The Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudarshan Reddy is set to release the draft voter list for the state on Monday, marking a significant step in the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll. Following the release, the Election Commission of India (ECI) will begin issuing notices to specific categories of voters. The claims and objections period will commence immediately after the draft publication and continue until September 16, allowing citizens to verify their voter registration details and submit necessary corrections.

According to official sources, approximately 60 lakh voters with anomalies are likely to receive notices from Electoral Registration Officers (EROs). These anomalies include logical discrepancies in voter information such as inconsistencies in names, father’s names, age differences between siblings, age gaps with parents, and other related categories. The notices, printed with complete elector details, will be dispatched directly from the ECI’s office. Meanwhile, the names of about 73.39 lakh voters falling under the ASDD category—absent, shifted, dead, and duplicate—will not appear in the draft electoral roll.

Voters who cannot locate their names in the draft list retain the right to file claims to reclaim their voting rights. The disposal of claims and objections will also begin on Monday and extend for an additional month, concluding on October 15. Special tribunals will be established to address unresolved disputes, including cases involving vote deletion following ERO decisions. The final electoral roll for Telangana is scheduled for publication on October 19.

The Election Commission of India has granted booth level agents from various political parties special provisions for filing claims and objections during the period ending September 16. Across Telangana, there are over 49,000 BLAs registered, with 25,160 specifically from Hyderabad district. In the city, the Congress has registered 3,601 BLAs, followed by BJP with 3,044, AIMIM with 2,519, and BRS with 2,212. Other registered parties include TD with six BLAs, CPM with nine, and BSP with seven.

Each BLA from a recognised political party may submit up to 50 forms per day, including 20 each for Form 6 (new voter registration) and Form 7 (deletion or objection), along with up to 10 under Form 8 for shifting, correction, replacement of EPIC, or marking persons with disabilities. These claims will undergo verification not only by poll authorities but also by BLAs from rival political parties, ensuring transparency and accountability in the electoral revision process.
