Rangareddy District is experiencing heavy rains, impacting many villages and towns. Local authorities are focusing on preventing seasonal diseases. Nearly all areas have seen more rain than usual by the end of August.
By Sunday, the district recorded 612.0 millimeters of rain, much higher than the normal 394.8 mm for the month, as reported by the district’s meteorological department.
All 27 mandals have received more rain than usual, with at least 18 rainy days each in August. Since the start of the monsoon, there have been 40 rainy days in total. On Sunday alone, 33.1 mm of rain fell across the district.
Serilingampally leads with 751.1 mm of cumulative rain by August 31, followed by Shabad (719.6 mm), Chevella (712.4 mm), Shamshabad (711.7 mm), and Maheshwaram (705.6 mm). Serilingampally also had 18 rainy days this month, similar to Shankarpally.
District Collector C Narayan Reddy has instructed health, municipal, and Panchayat Raj officials to address the spread of seasonal illnesses. He urged them to find areas with high dengue cases and implement sanitation measures like fogging and spraying to combat diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya.
The Collector stressed raising awareness about health issues caused by unclean surroundings. He also directed municipal and Panchayat officials to ensure timely garbage removal, even from empty plots.
