Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) might soon decide to suspend party member Kalvakuntla Kavitha.
Party sources revealed that BRS leaders discussed the issues related to the Kaleshwaram controversy. This includes the CBI inquiry initiated after the Ghose Commission report was presented in the Assembly and remarks made by MLC Kavitha.
Kavitha previously upset the party. On May 23, she sent a six-page letter to her father, former CM and BRS president K Chandrasekar Rao, criticizing the party’s “soft” stance towards the BJP. This fueled speculation about a potential future alliance.
The BRS chief held a meeting with senior party leaders at his Eravelli farmhouse. Key figures such as KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, S Madhusudhana Chary, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, G Jagadish Reddy, and Palla Rajeshwar Reddy were present.
Sources indicated the BRS chief was displeased with Kavitha’s recent statements, where she blamed senior leaders Harish Rao and J Santosh for the current issues.
Despite this, the BRS stands by Harish Rao. Party working president KTR expressed support for Harish Rao’s Assembly speech, describing him as a “six-foot tall bullet.” On X, KTR praised Harish Rao, saying his performance was a “master class” and suggested even Congress members learned about irrigation from him.
