The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has invited tenders for the construction of a new elevated corridor connecting Banjara Hills to Shilpa Layout in Gachibowli. The ambitious infrastructure project, with a total cost of Rs. 1,656 crores, aims to ease traffic congestion in one of Hyderabad’s busiest commercial and residential corridors. The elevated corridor will span 9 kilometers and is designed to provide seamless connectivity while bypassing major traffic bottlenecks at Jubilee Hills Checkpost and the IT Corridor areas.
The project will be executed in two phases to ensure systematic development. Phase 1 will cover a 5-kilometer stretch from Filmnagar to Shilpa Layout, while Phase 2 will extend 4 kilometers from Command Control Center to Hakimpet Kunta. The corridor will feature six strategically located ramps at key points including Filmnagar, NAFAC Road, Road Number 52, ITC Kohinoor, T-Hub, and Mindspace. These access points have been planned to facilitate smooth entry and exit for commuters traveling to major commercial hubs and residential areas.
The elevated corridor is expected to significantly reduce travel time for daily commuters and ease the burden on existing road infrastructure in the western part of Hyderabad. The project design includes provisions for future metro expansion, ensuring integrated transport planning for the city’s growing needs. The construction is scheduled to be completed within 12 months once the tender process is finalized and work begins on the ground.
This infrastructure development is part of HMDA’s ongoing efforts to modernize Hyderabad’s transport network and accommodate the city’s rapid urbanization. The elevated corridor will particularly benefit IT professionals and residents commuting between Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, and the Gachibowli IT corridor, which currently experiences heavy traffic congestion during peak hours. The project represents a significant investment in urban mobility infrastructure aimed at supporting the city’s economic growth and improving quality of life for its residents.
