Heavy security was deployed around former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s farmhouse at Erravalli in Markook mandal, Gajwel constituency, Siddipet district on September 8, 2026 following high political tensions. The situation escalated after alleged casteist remarks made by BRS MLC Tata Madhu against Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar during the monsoon session. Police imposed Section 144 and set up multiple barricades on approach roads to prevent clashes between Congress and BRS workers.
The controversy began on September 7 when BRS MLAs and MLCs wearing black T-shirts attempted to enter the Assembly to protest against the Congress government’s performance. During a confrontation with police, Tata Madhu allegedly used casteist slurs and obscene language against the Speaker, who belongs to the SC community. The MLC reportedly made comments about the Speaker’s mother and suggested that KCR avoids attending the House because he does not want to address a Dalit Speaker as “Sir”.
The incident caused Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar to become emotional and break down in the Assembly. Members from Congress, BJP, and other parties condemned the remarks and demanded immediate action. A formal complaint was filed under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act against the BRS leaders. The Speaker’s distress in the House drew widespread criticism of the alleged casteist language used during the protest.
Hyderabad police arrested BRS MLCs Tata Madhu and Naveen Kumar Reddy early morning on September 8. Tata Madhu was detained from MLA quarters while Naveen Kumar Reddy was picked up from his residence in Kokapet. Both leaders were booked under provisions of the SC/ST Act and sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita before being taken to Saifabad police station. Police also made preventive detentions of several leaders and workers from both parties near the farmhouse area.
Congress SC cell and Dalit leaders, including Satish Madiga, called for a protest at the farmhouse with 1,000 drums to condemn the alleged casteist remarks. Congress MLAs Birla Ilaiah and Vemula Veeresham joined the protest wearing black shirts. Violent clashes erupted when BRS workers pelted stones at Congress vehicles approaching from Damarakunta. Police established checkpoints on roads leading to the farmhouse, including at Venkatapur and Erravelli outskirts, and prepared detention vans.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao and former minister Harish Rao left the Assembly session and rushed to the farmhouse as tensions escalated. Police removed a BRS dharna camp that had been set up in the area. Heavy security forces remained deployed throughout the day to prevent further escalation between the two groups. The BRS party had also planned a farmer protest in the same area, which added to the security concerns and police deployment in the region.
