The incident occurred just a day after the Hot Air Balloon Festival was launched near the historic Golconda Fort at the Golf Club premises on Friday. The festival was inaugurated in a grand ceremony, marking a new addition to Telangana’s tourism calendar. The event aims to attract tourists and offer unique aerial experiences showcasing the city’s landscape and historical landmarks.
Minister for Tourism and Culture Jupally Krishna Rao formally inaugurated the festival and participated in a hot air balloon ride as part of the opening celebrations. The Minister spent approximately one-and-a-half hours in the air, covering a distance of about 13 kilometres. His ride began near the Golconda Golf Club and concluded at the outskirts of Appajiguda, providing sweeping aerial views of Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.
The emergency landing has raised questions about safety protocols and technical inspections for the festival’s hot air balloons. Authorities are investigating whether proper maintenance checks were conducted before the balloon’s flight. The festival organizers have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident or any potential impact on the remaining scheduled balloon rides.
