    Hyderabad: As part of World Breastfeeding Week from August 1 to 7, Fernandez Hospital organized a Walkathon at KBR Park on Sunday. Over 100 employees participated enthusiastically, highlighting the importance of breastfeeding for both mothers and their children.

    This year’s theme was ‘Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All.’ The event aimed to raise awareness, provide support, and encourage breastfeeding through comprehensive systems for mothers.

    The walkathon started at 6 am at KBR Park. Participants carried placards promoting breastfeeding awareness and walked a scenic route. They engaged in meaningful conversations about the benefits and challenges of breastfeeding.

    Dr. Pramod G, a senior consultant pediatrician and head of Social Initiatives at Fernandez Foundation, spoke to the gathering. He emphasized the foundation’s commitment to promoting breastfeeding through education, support, and advocacy. “Breastfeeding is crucial for the health of infants and the empowerment of mothers. It is our duty to create an environment that supports and encourages breastfeeding in every possible way,” he said.

    Dr. Tejopratap Oleti, head of the department of Neonatology at Fernandez Hospital, also spoke. He stressed that collective efforts can significantly impact the lives of mothers and their children.

    The event ended with participants pledging to continue supporting and advocating for breastfeeding within their communities.
