Hyderabad‘s HYDRAA received 76 complaints on January 12 during the Prajavanni public forum. Many residents asked for the restoration of lakes in their areas. They specifically mentioned water bodies like Fox Sagar in Jeedimetla, Pragathi Nagar lake, Noor Mohammad Kunta in Katedan, and Film Nagar lake.
Some complaints focused on road encroachments. People from Kondapur CMC layout reported that gravel was dumped on their road, blocking traffic. They appreciated HYDRAA and GHMC for constructing a CC road after a prior complaint but demanded immediate action to clear the gravel and penalize those responsible.
HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath instructed officials to address the complaints.
HMWSSB Commissioner K Ashok Reddy promised to look into encroachments near Fox Sagar by Jeedimetla industrial area. Residents from Gaurelli village in Abdullapurmet mandal, Ranga Reddy district urged the development of Malakunta lake. They expressed concerns about encroachment and loss of livelihood due to damaged embankments and drained water, which affected their fish-raising activities. They asked for the restoration of the Malakunta tank bund and removal of cement pipes.
The Primary Fisheries Cooperative Society requested immediate placement of FTL boundary stones to prevent further encroachment on the tank.
