A pregnant woman was badly injured after her husband attacked her with a stone in Hyderabad on the night of April 1. The incident took place near a hospital in the Hafeezpet area, under the Gachibowli Police Station limits. A nearby CCTV camera captured the shocking event.
According to the police, the man, Mohammed Basrat, assaulted his wife, Shabana Parveen, shortly after she was discharged from a private hospital. The couple had an argument, and during the fight, Basrat hit Shabana several times with a large stone. After the attack, he left the scene on his bike.
People passing by found Shabana lying injured on the road and quickly called the police. She was rushed to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), where doctors confirmed she had suffered serious head injuries and had fallen into a coma.
Records show that Basrat and Shabana had a love marriage in October 2024. Basrat is an interior designer from Vikarabad, while Shabana is from Kolkata. She had been admitted to the hospital on March 29 due to vomiting and was two months pregnant. Her condition had improved, and she had just been discharged when the attack happened.
Police said the argument after the hospital visit turned violent, leading to the assault. Basrat fled the scene, thinking his wife had died. The investigation is ongoing.
