Hyderabad man gets 10 years in jail in POCSO case

A court in Ranga Reddy district has sentenced a 24-year-old man to 10 years in prison for a crime committed under the POCSO Act. The case was reported in 2019 at Pahadishareef.

The convicted man, Mohammed Idris, lived in Jalpally. He had lured a minor boy to a secluded place and sexually assaulted him. The boy later informed his family about the incident, and they reported it to the police.

The Pahadishareef police registered a case against Idris under Section 377 of the IPC and the POCSO Act. He was arrested and put on trial.

On Thursday, the LB Nagar court found him guilty. Along with the 10-year prison sentence, the court also fined him Rs 15,000. Additionally, the victim was awarded Rs 3 lakh as compensation.

Following the court’s decision, Idris was sent to Central Prison in Cherlapally.
