Hyderabad: The Cyber Crime Police in Hyderabad have arrested a man from Bangalore for cheating people by offering fake IT jobs. He tricked job seekers by posting false job openings in multinational companies through Telegram groups.
The accused, Bandi Ajay Kumar, is 25 years old and comes from Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh. During the arrest, the police seized his mobile phone, laptop, four bank passbooks, three cheque books, and two debit cards.
The case came to light after a victim filed a complaint. The victim said he received a job offer message on Telegram on February 17, 2025. Kumar later contacted him on WhatsApp, pretending to be a job consultant. He promised the victim a job in Accenture with a salary package of ₹6 lakh per year. Believing him, the victim transferred ₹2 lakh. Later, he realized it was a scam and reported it to the police.
According to the police, fraudsters like Kumar use social media platforms, including WhatsApp and internet calls, to contact job seekers. They speak in a professional manner and even conduct fake interviews or assessments to gain trust. They also create fake profiles on LinkedIn and job websites to look more genuine.
