The Hyderabad Public School Society (HPS) has issued a public trademark and copyright caution notice warning individuals and institutions against the unauthorized use of the name “HPS” or similar variations for educational institutions.
The notice states that The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet is the registered proprietor of multiple trademarks related to the institution, including the name “The Hyderabad Public School – HPS” and the well-known flying eagle logo. According to the society, these trademarks have been in use for over seven decades and are exclusively associated with the educational institutions run by the HPS Society.
Warning Against Misuse of the ‘HPS’ Name
The society has alleged that certain institutions and individuals are using names similar to the HPS trademark, including titles such as HPS Play School, HPS Pre School, HPS Kids, HPS International School, HPS Academy, and HPSE Hyderabad Public School of Excellence.
According to the notice, these names are identical or deceptively similar to the registered trademarks and may mislead parents and the public. The society warned that such usage could attract legal action, including civil and criminal proceedings, under applicable trademark and intellectual property laws.
Public Advised to Verify Authentic HPS Institutions
The notice further cautioned parents, students, and the general public to remain vigilant and verify the authenticity of institutions claiming association with the HPS brand.
The society clarified that the officially recognized institutions under the Hyderabad Public School Society currently operate only in the following locations:
- Begumpet
- Ramanthapur
- Warangal (Telangana)
- Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh)
These institutions are identified by the official name “The Hyderabad Public School – HPS” along with the distinctive flying eagle logo.
Legal Action Warned Against Violations
The society has urged all individuals and organizations currently using similar names or trademarks to immediately cease such activities. The notice states that strict legal action may be initiated against those who continue to use the HPS name or logo without authorization.
The caution notice was issued through Rao & Rao, Trademarks, Patents, Designs & Copyright Consultants, acting on behalf of the Hyderabad Public School Society.
