The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana is set to commence from June 25, according to an official announcement. The exercise aims to update and verify voter details across the state, ensuring accurate electoral rolls ahead of future elections. Voters are advised to keep their documents ready and cooperate with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) who will conduct house-to-house visits during this period.
During the enumeration phase, BLOs will visit each household three times to collect information. Residents are required to fill the Enumeration Form provided by these officers and submit it during these visits. New voters who wish to register can apply using Form-6, which can be submitted both physically and online. The online submission is available through the ECISVEEP portal and the ECINET mobile application, making the process more accessible to tech-savvy citizens.
Voters facing any issues or requiring assistance can contact the dedicated helpline number 1950 for support. The draft electoral rolls will be published after July 31, following which citizens will have the opportunity to review their entries. If any discrepancies, objections, or corrections are identified in the draft rolls, voters can raise them through the proper channels during the designated period.
An important clarification has been issued regarding documentation requirements. Documents are needed only if the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) issues a discrepancy notice later, not during the initial enumeration phase. This means voters do not need to submit proof documents when BLOs visit their homes unless specifically requested by the ERO at a later stage due to inconsistencies in the information provided.
The birth proof requirements vary based on the date of birth of the applicant. For individuals born before July 1, 1987, any one document proving birth, date, or place is sufficient. Those born between July 1, 1987, and December 2, 2004 must provide their own birth proof along with either parent’s proof. For persons born after December 2, 2004, both own birth proof and both parents’ proof are mandatory for registration.
The list of accepted documents includes Birth Certificate, Passport, Aadhaar (as per ECI norms), School or Matriculation certificates, Government or PSU identity cards, Pension Payment Order (PPO), Residence certificates, Caste certificates, Family Register, Land allotment papers, Forest Rights Certificate, and NRC records where applicable. Electoral authorities have emphasized that these documents serve to establish identity and eligibility, ensuring the integrity of the electoral process in the state.
