    Food inspectors from the Commissioner of Food Safety recently checked two restaurants in Ameerpet, Hyderabad—Amogha Hotel and Café and Taaza Kitchen. They found serious food safety violations in both places.

    At Amogha Hotel and Café, inspectors discovered rats in the storage area. A major concern was that the toilet opened directly into the kitchen, which could lead to food contamination. The restaurant also had no records of pest control, employee health checks, or water safety measures.

    The refrigerators were dirty and contained food waste. The floors were littered with food and had stagnant water. Some food items were left uncovered and had no labels. Inspectors also found unsafe food colors, which were discarded. Additionally, food and non-food items were stored together on the ground, increasing the risk of contamination.

    At Taaza Kitchen, inspectors found similar issues. Food inside the refrigerator was uncovered and unlabeled. There were no records of water safety checks or supervisor training. Rice flour was found to be infested with insects and had to be thrown away.

    The restaurant stored raw and cooked food together, which is unsafe. Some tomatoes were spoiled, and kitchen knives were rusty. Staff members were not wearing hairnets or gloves. The storage area was too small, and food was kept on the ground. There were also no temperature records for the cold room.

    These violations highlight the importance of following food safety rules to ensure customer health and safety.
