Hyderabad: Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, said that company secretaries have the skills and knowledge that can help grow the business sector. He believes their contribution is important not only for India but for the world, especially as India works toward becoming a developed country by 2047.
Reddy made these comments at a special event where he laid the foundation stone for a new building for the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) in Hyderabad on Sunday. He said the event was a key moment for the Hyderabad Chapter and for promoting good corporate practices across India.
He praised company secretaries for playing a vital role in shaping India’s corporate world. By making sure companies follow the rules and act with honesty, they help build strong systems of corporate governance.
According to Reddy, company secretaries also support the country’s economic growth by managing company operations well and keeping businesses honest and transparent.
He remembered how Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also praised company secretaries during ICSI’s Jubilee celebrations in 2017. Modi had said that their work helps create a trustworthy business environment in India.
Reddy added that the efforts of ICSI members have attracted both Indian and international investors. This has helped boost India’s image as a growing economic power.
He pointed out that the motto of ICSI, “Satyam Vadha Dharmam Chara,” which means “Speak the truth, follow the path of righteousness,” should be followed by all company secretaries. He said that doing so would bring more honesty and fairness to the business world.
Reddy also highlighted that professionals from India, like company secretaries, lawyers, and accountants, are in demand in countries like Germany and Japan. This shows the high respect for Indian talent around the world.
In conclusion, the Union Minister said that building professional and intellectual skills is not just for personal success, but also helps society and the world. He hoped that organisations like ICSI would lead the way in making India more self-reliant.
