IIT Madras Launches Career-Focused Podcast for Science and Tech Students
Hyderabad – The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) has rolled out a brand-new podcast series to help students and parents understand careers in science, technology, and engineering.
Called “Prof. Mahesh Podcast. Future. Simplyfied,” the weekly show aims to make career decisions easier by offering clear, trustworthy information. It’s available on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and other major audio platforms.
The podcast is led by Prof. Mahesh Panchagnula, an expert in sports science and analytics, and is supported by IIT Madras Global, the institute’s office for global engagement.
Each episode will feature expert interviews, real student questions, and simplified insights into emerging fields in India and abroad. The podcast will also provide content summaries in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and English, making it accessible to a wider audience.
Prof. V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, introduced the initiative during a press event. He emphasized the importance of guiding students toward careers that align with their passions. “We want to help bright minds choose the right path and make a difference in society,” he said.
He also praised Prof. Mahesh for leading this initiative. “This podcast will solve the information gap,” Kamakoti added. “Students and parents often make choices without fully understanding the potential of each field.”
Prof. Mahesh Panchagnula explained the podcast’s goal: to ease the pressure of career choices. “There’s too much misinformation out there,” he said. “We want to offer credible advice so people can make confident decisions.”
The first episode aired on Thursday. It featured Madhura Swaminathan from ISI Bangalore, who discussed agricultural intelligence and the journey of food from farm to table. Balaraman Ravindran from IIT Madras also appeared, speaking about the latest trends in AI and data science.
With today’s fast-changing job market, this podcast arrives at the right time. It promises to be a valuable resource for students, parents, and educators seeking clarity in the evolving world of STEM careers.
