Illegal firecracker warehouse found in Begum Bazar, Rs 6 lakh seized

The Commissioner’s Task Force from the South-East Zone, along with Afzalgunj Police, discovered an illegal firecracker storage in Begum Bazar on Wednesday. They seized explosive items worth about Rs. 6 lakh.

The raid took place at a warehouse near Mali Bhavan in Kolsawadi, Begum Bazar. They arrested Mahipal Singh, a 23-year-old businessman living in the DR Complex. Originally from Jalore district in Rajasthan, Singh was found storing a large number of firecrackers in a residential building without proper permits.

Authorities confiscated around 250 cartons of “Original Wonder Throw,” each containing 40 boxes, along with 30 cartons of “Original Tiger,” one carton of “Turkey,” six cartons of “Oscar Firework,” and 80 cartons of “Andhi Toofan.” They also took an iPhone and a OnePlus phone, totaling about Rs. 6,00,000 in value.

Police highlighted the danger of keeping such explosive materials in a crowded residential area. They noted that Mahipal Singh stored these firecrackers without licenses or safety measures, posing a significant risk to people and property.
