Hyderabad / New Delhi: The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) from the Ministry of Power is stressing the importance of energy efficiency for India’s Net Zero 2070 goal. They are calling on state governments and State Designated Agencies (SDAs) to prioritize Comprehensive Communication Strategies (CCS).
These strategies aim to keep all stakeholders involved in achieving the government’s economic and climate goals. BEE emphasizes the need for innovative communication to raise public awareness and involve both public and private sectors. This approach is crucial for promoting energy-saving habits and encouraging the use of energy-efficient methods.
Dhiraj Kumar Srivastava, Director General of BEE, released a report highlighting the benefits of CCS for improving energy efficiency and tackling climate change. The report, presented by A. Chandra Sekhara Reddy, Media Adviser for Southern States/UTs, was revealed during a program at BEE’s Central Office in New Delhi.
Srivastava noted that the Ministry of Power’s strategies and policies, in partnership with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), state agencies, DISCOMs, and industry participants, have achieved notable outcomes: 53 million tonnes of oil equivalent in energy savings, 321.06 billion units of electricity saved, and a reduction of 321.06 million tonnes of carbon dioxide.
