Former Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi has been creating speculation in political circles about whether he will be contesting again from the Lok Sabha constituency. Recently, he met with AICC general secretary (org) K C Venugopal in Delhi to discuss his intentions.

Ravi currently holds the position of ‘Special Representative’ of the State government in Delhi and has been actively seeking to have his name cleared for candidacy. Despite already holding a key position within the government, he formally expressed his desire to contest from Nagarkurnool again. He even went as far as sending a resignation letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to bring attention to his request for the Nagarkurnool ticket.

The meeting between Ravi and Venugopal is seen as significant because the Telangana screening committee has already approved and forwarded names of around ten candidates to the AICC. Ravi also met with AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge before his meeting with Venugopal.

Ravi’s access to top party leaders in Delhi suggests that he may have the support of the high command for his candidature. Other names that have been cleared by the screening committee and sent to the AICC include various prominent figures from different constituencies in Telangana.

During a public meeting in Mahbubnagar, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is expected to address the concerns of more potential candidates, similar to what he did at a recent meeting in Chevella. This public meeting will likely provide more clarity on the party’s candidate selection process.
