In Amaravati, the YSR Congress Party president and former Chief Minister, YS Jaganmohan Reddy, has made serious accusations against the TDP government led by Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Jagan claims that Naidu’s government is not taking proper care of the state’s farmers.

On Sunday, Jagan used social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to voice his concerns. He mentioned that the government is delaying the payment of crop insurance premiums for the 2023-24 Kharif season.

Jagan warned that this delay could prevent farmers from receiving the insurance payouts they deserve. He compared this situation to his own time in office, when he ensured that these premiums were paid on time between April and May. This timely payment allowed farmers to receive compensation by June.

Furthermore, Jagan emphasized that during his tenure, the government covered the entire premium amount, making crop insurance free for farmers. He added that once the state paid its share, the central government would quickly release its portion. As a result, insurance companies were able to compensate farmers within 30 days.

Jagan also highlighted the current government’s failure to provide the promised Rythu Bharosa financial assistance of Rs 20,000 per year to each farmer. Despite the Kharif season nearing its end, there has been no announcement about this aid being distributed.

He contrasted this with his administration’s dedication to farmers’ welfare, even during the tough economic times brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Jagan’s government managed to distribute a total of Rs 34,288 crores to 53.58 lakh farmers in a timely manner through the Rythu Bharosa scheme.
