The residents of Jawaharnagar and Dammaiguda staged a protest on Thursday, demanding the relocation of the local dump yard. They expressed their frustration over the long-standing issue, which has been affecting their daily lives.
The protesters reminded the state government of its promise made three years ago to shift the dump yard to three alternative locations: Lakdaram village in Patancheru mandal, Pyaranagar village in Gummadidala mandal, and Khanapur village in Talakondapally mandal in Rangareddy district. However, they claimed that no action had been taken so far.
In addition to relocating the dump yard, the residents urged the government to organize monthly health camps. They highlighted the increasing number of health problems caused by the foul smell and pollution from the dump yard.
Sandeep, one of the protesters, shared his frustration, saying that while they had been struggling with the issue for years, the situation had worsened in the past three days. The stench had become unbearable, forcing people to stay indoors. He added that despite repeated complaints to officials, no action had been taken, leaving the residents with no choice but to protest.
Another resident, Ramesh, stated that the pollution from the dump yard had made it difficult for them to live in the area. He explained that both the air and water were contaminated, making life unbearable for the locals. The residents vowed to continue their fight until the issue was resolved.
