Hyderabad: G Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister for Coal and Mines, announced that the central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has provided job appointment letters to 10.50 lakh young people through the last 15 Rozgar Melas. On Saturday, during the 16th Rozgar Mela, an additional 51,000 appointment letters were distributed.
At the event held in Rail Kakal Rang, Reddy emphasized that the individuals receiving these letters will play a key role in the nation’s initiatives over the next 25 years. He highlighted that India has the largest youth population globally, which brings both increased responsibility and vast opportunities. The Minister noted that this youthful strength has propelled India to become the fourth largest economy, soon to be the third.
In the past 11 years, Modi’s government has not only focused on job creation but also on involving young people in the nation’s development across sectors. The government aims to transform youth into job creators through initiatives like Startups and skilling programs. The Startup India campaign has fostered over 1.60 lakh startups, employing 17.6 lakh individuals. Many of these startups originate from smaller cities, inspiring others.
Since 2017, 8.5 crore new jobs have been generated, according to EPFO data. From 2020, more than 3.5 crore youth aged 18 to 28 have registered with EPFO. In the 2025 financial year alone, 1.13 crore people became EPFO members.
India also hosts the world’s largest social security program, benefiting about 64% of its population. Reddy highlighted schemes like Mudra Yojana and Lakh Pati Didi that support women. As a result, the Women’s Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) rose from 23% in 2017-18 to 41.7% in 2023-24.
