Hyderabad: On Tuesday, Telangana Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao instructed officials to draft plans for a global carnival in Telangana, inspired by the famous Rio Carnival.
During a meeting focused on boosting tourism, the Minister emphasized aligning efforts with the goal of making Telangana a top tourist hotspot. Officials updated him on current projects, budget accommodations, and new tourist areas planned for the initial phase.
Rao highlighted the presence of world-class sites in Telangana and stressed the need for a premier tourism center. With a new tourism policy in place, the aim is to spur economic growth, create jobs, and foster cultural exchange. Special attention is on developing 27 unique tourist areas through public-private partnerships.
These areas should be prioritized and developed gradually. The tourism sector should become self-sufficient, increasing revenues similar to private hotels and travel services. Festivals like Bonalu, Bathukamma, Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara, and Nagoba Jatara should be celebrated grandly to draw both local and international visitors.
The Minister urged for improved amenities along Telangana’s main highways, including clear signage, tents, and mobile toilets for travelers. He advocated for prioritizing adventure and water sports, suggesting visits to other states for insights. Promoting tourist sites through effective branding and social media is crucial.
Cultural programs in tourist areas should highlight Telangana’s heritage, providing jobs for local artists. Rao insisted on a results-driven approach, with officials completing tasks within set deadlines.
