Hyderabad: The Telangana government has named two new members to the Telangana Electricity Regulatory Commission (TGERC).
Kancharla Raghu will serve as the Technical Member, and Cherukuri Srinivasa Rao will take on the role of Finance Member. Their appointments were confirmed through official orders issued by Sandeep Kumar Sultania, the Principal Secretary for Energy.
Each member will serve a five-year term starting from the day they take office. However, their service will end earlier if they reach the age of 65 before completing the full term.
Both Raghu and Srinivasa Rao have previous experience in Telangana’s power sector. Raghu is well known for his leadership during the Telangana movement. He also led the Telangana Joint Action Committee (T-JAC) as its Chairman, playing a key role in the statehood campaign.
Until now, the TGERC was operating without these two important members. The Commission’s Chairman, Justice Devaraju Nagarjun, was appointed on October 22 last year, but the remaining posts stayed vacant.
With these new appointments, the Commission is now fully staffed and ready to function more effectively in regulating Telangana’s energy sector.
