She conducted her research as a full-time scholar at the university’s Kukatpally campus. Her thesis, titled “Design, Synthesis and Characterization of Indole, Thiazolopyridine Based Heterocyclic Compounds and Their Biological Studies,” was successfully submitted and evaluated under the guidance of Prof. Chittireddy Venkataramana Reddy.
Karuna will officially receive her PhD during JNTUH’s 14th convocation. She previously completed her Master’s in Organic Chemistry at the same university. There, she was recognized as the top student and received a gold medal at the 7th convocation.
Her academic achievements earned her the INSPIRE Fellowship from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, which funded her research for five years. Her husband, Dr. Shadagonde Karunakar Reddy, a senior Congress leader and Chairman of JNTUH JAC, also completed his PhD in Mathematics at JNTUH in 2014. Their joint academic endeavors have been admired by many.
Officials, faculty, student groups, and well-wishers at JNTUH have praised Karuna Reddy’s dedication to chemistry and her scientific contributions.
